Gary may remind me of Buster Blood vessel, however he has been through some tough times and is a true gentleman. For anything plumbing or heating he and his team are the guys to go to. They really care about what they do and will always treat you as a valued customer. Well done Gary for all your hard work and take care. Look forward to your future services.

The yearly service has always been properly done, sometimes it takes longer, other times it is a quick service. However I have no issues with the boiler through the year, so the service is well worth it.

Fantastic service from start to finish. Came out to carry out a gas safety certificate and various other works at my house and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Very professional, punctual, and thorough throughout the whole visit. Everything was explained clearly, the work was carried out efficiently, and I felt completely confident in the quality of the service provided. It’s hard to find tradespeople who are reliable, honest, and take real pride in their work, but this plumber definitely does. Friendly, respectful of my home, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone needing plumbing or gas work done, and I’ll definitely be using them again in future.

This company took out my bath and replaced it with a walk in shower.Kept me informed all through the job.Had the end of one of the shower taps came off, I rang them as didn't know if it was under warranty as I had it installed over 18 months ago. Gary came in fixed it and hasn't charged me for the call out or rectifying the problem.Would highly recommend.

How can we help you?
GJS Plumbing & Heating is run by Gary Simmonds, a qualified gas engineer who started the business over ten years ago after getting tired of working for other people. Every job comes with Gary's personal attention, not a faceless call centre. It is a genuinely family-run service and it shows in the way customers are looked after.
Customers come to GJS because the pricing is fair and the advice is honest. Gary will tell you what actually needs doing and what does not, give you a clear price before starting, and never add work that is not needed. That straightforwardness is why so much of the work comes through word of mouth.
Quality and safety are not optional. All gas work is carried out to current safety regulations, the work is left clean and properly tested, and Gary stands behind what he installs and repairs. You get workmanship you can rely on for years, not a quick fix.
Gary grew up in Grays and his family are all local, so this is genuinely his community. He also works closely with the Essex charity Trust Links to help raise funds. When you book GJS you are supporting a local tradesperson who cares about the area he works in.
We cover Grays, Thurrock, Basildon, Romford, Hornchurch, Southend-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea, Benfleet, Rayleigh, Billericay and across the rest of Essex. If you are not sure whether you are in our area, call 07740 187249 and we will let you know.
GJS has been trading for over ten years. Gary started the business after years on the tools working for other people, and he still personally attends the jobs himself.
Yes. Gary is a qualified, Gas Safe registered gas engineer, and all gas work is carried out to current safety regulations. You are welcome to ask to see the Gas Safe ID card on any visit.
We work Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00, plus alternate Saturdays. For urgent leaks or breakdowns we also run a 24/7 emergency call-out on 07383 615515, so you can reach us any time, day or night.
Yes. Quotes are free and given clearly up front with no hidden extras. Call 07740 187249 or email info@gjs.services and we will arrange a time to take a look.
We agree a clear price before any work starts so there are no surprises. GJS has always worked on honest, fair pricing rather than adding work that is not needed.
We accept bank transfer and card payments, usually taken on completion of the work. For larger installations we are happy to discuss staged payments.
We usually recommend Vaillant, Ideal or Baxi. They offer reliable performance, good parts availability and strong manufacturer warranties for the money. We will help you choose the right model for your home and budget.
Boiler installations typically range from around £2,000 to £5,000 depending on the boiler chosen, the size of the system and any extra work needed. You get a clear written quote after we have looked at your home.
A straightforward boiler swap is usually completed in a day. A more involved system upgrade can take longer, and we will give you a clear timescale as part of the quote.
Yes. Removing and disposing of your old boiler safely is included as part of the installation. You do not need to arrange anything separately.
Yes. New boilers come with a manufacturer-backed warranty, and we register it on your behalf. We will explain the exact cover before you commit.
Once a year. An annual service keeps the boiler safe and efficient and helps protect the manufacturer warranty. Autumn is a popular time, ready for winter.
An annual boiler service is £110 including VAT. We confirm everything when you book and there are no hidden extras.
Often, yes. We carry common spares in the van and aim to complete repairs on the first visit. If a part has to be ordered we will tell you straight away and book a quick return.
Yes. We work on all the major brands including Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Worcester and others, and can source manufacturer parts when needed.
We will give you an honest view. If a repair is sensible and cost-effective we will do that. If the boiler is at the end of its life we will tell you, so you can make an informed decision.
Cold spots are often trapped air or a build-up of sludge in the system. We can bleed and balance the system, and recommend a power flush if the circulation is genuinely poor.
A power flush clears sludge and debris from your heating system to restore circulation and protect the boiler. We will only recommend one if your system actually needs it.
Yes. We supply and fit new and replacement radiators, and can move or resize them to suit how you use each room.
Yes. Modern thermostats and controls give you better comfort and lower running costs. We can talk you through sensible options for your home.
No. Quotes are free, and you get a clear price before any work begins.
It is an annual safety check of the gas appliances in a rented property, required by law. We carry out the checks and issue the CP12 certificate so you stay compliant.
A gas safety certificate is £78 including VAT, with a small add-on for any additional appliances. We confirm the exact price when you book.
We aim to attend within the same week and issue the certificate on the same visit wherever possible.
Turn off the gas at the meter, open windows, avoid naked flames and electrical switches, and call us. If you are in any doubt, also call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999.
Yes. We carry out gas appliance safety checks for homeowners as well as landlords, so you have peace of mind your boiler and appliances are safe.
Yes. No job is too small. Dripping taps, running toilets, leaks and outside taps are all welcome.
We prioritise leaks where we can. Call 07740 187249 and we will get to you as soon as possible within our working hours.
Yes. We diagnose pressure and hot water issues, explain the cause, and give you an honest, fair-priced fix.
Yes. We can plumb in washing machines, dishwashers and outside taps, and make sure everything is leak-free before we leave.
Always. You get a clear price up front and a tidy finish afterwards, on every job.
Yes. We handle the plumbing and heating side of a full refit or a single suite replacement, making sure water, drainage and hot water all work properly.
It depends on the scope, from a couple of days for a suite swap to longer for a full refit. We give you a clear timescale with the quote.
Either works. We can advise on suitable suites and fittings or work with what you have chosen. We will be clear about what is included in the quote.
We check and sort pressure and hot water before anything is boxed in, because that is the part that is hard to fix later.
Yes. Bathroom quotes are free and given clearly up front so you know exactly where you stand.
